Charley, is the Del Rio division @ Amistad April 4th or 14th?

BLT schedule says 14th as the 4th is on a Wednesday.

The San Antonio Division has Amistad on Jan. 2, which is a Monday.  Is that correct?

Good question? The web site says Texoma is a regional and the Grand Championship is at Ray Roberts?? Looks like Bruce and I will be fishing either Dallas or Sherman this year.

David,
The primary reason we moved to Texoma has to do with the space needed to handle 100 boats in the Grand Championship for 2012 in a "wet area". Ray Roberts Marina is the only "wet ramp" on the lake. Remember, BLT is sponsored by Bud Light and we would like to display their signs at the Championship tournaments. A "wet area" is a location that has approved the sale and advertising of an alcoholic beverage. BLT does not sell alcohol at the tournaments but we must be in a wet area to display the advertising of an alcohol beverage. The Ray Roberts marina does not have the room to park 100 boats without going on to the field in from of the marina and we did not want to do this in the event it rains. Lake Texoma has the room and most of the ramps are in "wet areas".

Our solution was to simply switch the lakes. Our Regional Championship on Roberts will probably not be as big of a turnout as the Grand Championship on Texoma in 2012.

We are sorry for any problems this created.

There are some other changes we recently made due to the low water levels; Limestone, Toledo Bend, Jacksonville, Travis, Buchanan and some of the other lakes will cause us to reschedule if we do not get water soon.
Thanks for your interest,

200 boats @ Bass Champs and there was plenty of room around the Marina @ Ray Roberts

Patrick,
We want to keep Ray Roberts as one of our Region Championship tournaments but, as I said, if there is rain, everyone who parks in the field across from the Marina would be in mud. We did not want to take that chance. We have held about 6 tournaments there over the past couple years and when it rains it can get very messy. I fished in a tournament there several years back and several cars had to be towed out of the field by 4 wheel trucks.

I respect the Bass Champs organization and any of the decisions they make. We may be trying to be too cautious but we feel it is just one more thing we would not have to worry about if we were on concrete.

Thanks for the information.
