nice job guys! saltwater is my second addiction... it would be my first, if we lived 2 hours further south!  i have the "tuna bug" something fierce!!!! Theres no describing the feeling of seeing a 80 pound yellowfin crashing a 12" topwater 75 yards from the boat... then fighting that same fish on heavy custom spinning tackle!! what a RUSH!

How many of you have ever chased the bull reds at the jetties? I have done it twice. Once this year (pic you see) and last year in November with a guide. We caught 8 total this time for three of us but last year in November I have never seen anything like it. From 10:00 in the morning until 2:30 pm it was every cast. All between 36" and 42". If you have never done it I recommend it highly. Be prepared to have sore arms.

one day! sounds like fun. i wish i had a boat that would handle that trip in the salt. I would love to put the wife on a wad of bulls!!! she'd be hooked for life, and ready to buy that bay boat!! LOL!

Ronnie get four guys together and hire a guide. The boat with bait and tip around $800. You couldn't pull a boat to and from for that price and you don't have to clean it when your done. October is the prime time but is good from sept through November. You might even come across a tarpon. They hook them once in a while as well.

Damn Derick, either you have a big pull of snuff in that first pic, or your struggling to hold the Red up! Grin

Lol. Both that sob was heavy and the gill plate was cutting into my hand. The Picture does not do that fish justice. The girth on that fish was unreal. Probably outweighed the other fish we caught by 10lbs and all were about the same length. That was a one beer fish on pretty heavy tackle. Only problem was my friends were drinking the beer while I was fighting the fish.

Heading down this thursday morning, for four days of fishing and golf. The ex owner of our consulting firm owns the house next door to PINS at the end of the Port A marina. We usually have several office trips per year, I used to think that the weekend after labor day was the best, as we always have good "numbers" at that time.
As you said last year at the jetties was slugfest, we had bull reds that we could not turn, as a rule we max our line at 12 pounds so we must play the fish, bulls spooled three rods on one day. My largest last year went 38 pounds, had several more in the mid twenties.

My goal for this trip a a double digit speckled trout.

I want no part of 12 lb tackle and the bull reds we've been catching. It takes forever with 20 and 30 lb tackle.
