Carl Riley of Houston was nice enough to come on the show this weekend and talk about his experience at the Bisbee Black and Blue Marlin Tournament. His team 'Great Escape' hooked up with an 800 lb blue marlin around 3pm and Carl fought the fish like hell for the next 5 hours. The marlin was finally landed around 8:10 and they booked it back to Los Cabos but were 9 minutes late to the weigh in and therefore the fish didn't count in the tourny.

The 9 minutes cost the team anywhere from $650,000 to 1.2 million in prize money!!! Anyway, Carl will be a guest this weekend and will talk about the whole experience in great detail- he may not have won the tourny but he still landed the fish of a lifetime.

Lone Star Outdoors Show airs Saturday mornings from 7-8 on San Antonio's KTKR 760 The Ticket and from 8:30-9:30 on Dallas' 95.3 The Range. Both stations also stream live.

You can also visit my homepage to find out who else will be on the show this weekend: www.lonestaroutdoorshow.com

That had to be a really bad feeling losing that kind of money.

I caught most of the show.  It was a great story and he wasn't as down about being late as you think.  He was just thrilled that he will have a lifetime of memories catching that fish.  Sounded like a giant... close to 14' right?

Ouch!!  Well I guess it would be different if they just made a mistake and missed the deadline but since he was still fighting that monster, what else could he do?
