every time i start my motor (200hp mercury efi) my hds 8 unit reboots. i have taken it back to the marina where i got it installed and he says he hooked it up right and suggested i get a new battery. i got a new one but this didn't fix the problem either and hen doesn't know what else to do. has anybody else had this problem, and if so, what can be done to fix it? thanks and Happy New Year

I would try running a larger wire from the battery. Would be easy to test that.

Clint, I would bet you are running an Optimax.  Is that right?

Come on D, one typo and you are bored enough to find it?  Go build a pool and jump in it.

What CCA , MCA rating is the cranking battery? These units are very sensitive to power loss and power spikes.

There was a lot more than one typo. That sentence made absolutely no sense,  but now that you've sobered up its much better.

I noticed mine doing the same thing early last year. At first I didn't think much of it the first couple trips out. Then my battery wasn't cranking well so I replaced it and it didn't do it again. I had wrote it off to a bad connection but maybe my problem was actually the battery.
