I saw a comment on another thread and agree 100%.

"Carbon fiber makes everything look great!"

I'm having all my boat's panels redone in a carbon fiber pattern...goodbye wood grain.

http://www.tarjac.com/

I'll look forward to seeing how it looks and holds up.  It's supposed to be as good as the original wood grain and the same thing the car/truck dash’s are done in.  $175 plus shipping for the Ranger's panels.

That's kinda cool John, does it have UV protection?

From what I have been told it is UV resistant then they apply a UV resistant clearcoat.  I'm getting a black carbon fiber finish.  It's the same stuff they use on a car dash or my boat when new.

So you send them the panels and they coat them?  Or are they making new panels?

They have all kinds of different patterns and it looks cool.  I just can't figure it out, looks like some type of covering.

Im wondering the same Joey.  If it's some sort of covering, I could think of a lot of things that would be cool to cover.

I made all of these components from Carbon Fibre, Kevlar, Fiber Glass and HoneyComb filler boards.

looks like actual panels vs. coverings, I may look into this for my brothers sprint car..I wonder cost vs fabricating simple aluminum panels would be? How much weight savings vs. Sheet aluminum?

And damn Wilkins is that a cruise missile? What the hell is that? Damn interesting

I sent them the panels that came on my boat.  It is a coating like used on a car dash.  I looked into fabricating the panels in carbon fiber but the switch panels had a bunch of complex curves I would need to make a mold to create.  Time, material and effort would have run up the costs of going that way higher than buying new wood grain from Ranger.  I actually heard about Tarjac on an American Chopper episode... It's really, really cool John.  I appreciate it, I bookmarked them for later use.  My panels still look good, but this is a great resource to have.

Keeb man that thing is cool, that takes rocketry to a whole new level.  When I was in high school I built a radio control boat, it had tons of fiber-glassing work.  It was fun but very tedious.

Thanks for the comments guys but was not intended to hi jack the original post. It was just to point out that if you do have something that you want fabricated with real materials, I have quite a bit of experience and may be able to assist with possible needs.

Had to have a low explosives user permit for the chemicals I would purchase to build the motors with and a waiver from the FAA to fly.

I just finished buying all new gauges for my boat an I am needing to build 2 replacement panels and I would love to have panels that look that sweet! I will probably just get some black ABS plasitc and cover it in a carbon fiber decal... I am on a shoestring budget so real carbon fiber is out of the question....

I got to take a look at the panels this weekend and must say they look awesome. Definitely a nice face lift for the boat along with the new steering wheel. Bling!
