Very interesting design and I will probably order one because I am a swimming jig guy.  Does anyone know what the blade is made of and how durable it is?  I would assume it will get bent coming thru heavy cover and when I smack the tree or dock  because believe me I will try to put places it does not belong.

Tim,

The blade is durable, I'm not saying it can't be bent but as far as running it into tree's and docks, your good.  It comes through the grass very very well and it swims true regardless of how fast you swim it. Hope that answers your questions.

Was curious if it could withstand being bent back several times before it breaks.
Thanks

I really dont get it.  What is it supposed to do?  I cant see the advantage of the little spinner blade over a chatter style blade.  It reminds me of those old pre-rigged Creme worms with the spinners in front.

Here's a link to the press release that explains a little more about the Yana http://www.gethookd.net/?p=4244 The propeller has the same properties and durability as a spinnerbait blade. The blade not only rotates, but oscillates from side to side and gives the bait a unique action. It also adds a clicking sound and flash.

Our design makes the Yana surprisingly weedless. It's certainly not meant to be flipped into mats, however it sheds pondweed, milfoil and moderate hydrilla just fine. It's also excellent for working through brush, stumps and submerged treetops for suspended fish.

Propellers have been put on baits for many years, so it's certainly not new technology. The concept of adapting a propeller to a swim jig used mainly for bass is recent and started in Japan, where it's super hot right now.

Hope this helps explain the bait a little further. If anyone has specific questions please feel free to call or email us, we're happy to help you understand the bait better.

Guys,
I've been fishing this bait on 65 lb braid since I received the prototypes, I didnt want to lose em! I've fished them around brush piles, through bushes, hydrilla, docks, rocks, and reeds. I've yet to bend a blade and I have put them in places they arent supposed to go. I've hung them in the rocks and brushpiles a few times bouncing them off the bottom and been pretty rough pulling and jerking to get them free, still no bent blades. I'm not saying they wont bend, just that I havent experienced that personally and I've made several 100 casts in both open water and in the junk. Weed grabbers?? I didnt have any issue fishing grass lines at Fork, IMHO it picked up a bit less grass than a regular swim jig does for me in the same application. I'll be at Squaw this weekend doing my very best to tear this bait up, in the event I bend a blade I'll dang sure get on here and let yall know. Andi and Ivan asked me to put this bait through the ringer, thats what I intend on continuing to do.

Thank you Matt! It might also help to know that the blade does not always spin at a right angle to the axis. It wobbles around at different angles as it spins on the wire, and one side of the blade can tilt back along the bait upon contact with something. This helps shed debris and also absorbs the impact when the blade hits an object.

We're getting lots of great feedback from folks who have used the Yana, and it's already played a role in some great tournament finishes. In in less than two weeks of availability through Tackle Warehouse, it's already in the hands of well over 1000 anglers! 12 days... 1760 units... average 146 per day. It's absolutely Yana-tizing!
