I know there are some pro-staffers out there. Are they going to be all that they say they are?

I was in the back of KVD's boat on Saturday at the TTBC.  He threw them all day long and they are the real deal.  I will be buying some for sure.

No, but KVD told me that the Conroe Academy received a shipment of 15 dozen in connection with his appearance there for the TTBC...

That is the only place I know to get them.  Whether there are still any on the shelves is anyone's guess.

I was told by Strike Kings lure designer that they are shipping next week.  I have a bunch on pre order from TW.  I saw them at ICAST and they look great.  Just like an RC but $4.99.

I bought a bunch this week at one of my dealers. They are awesome. A little fatter than an RC 2.5 but they run great and did not need to be tuned. They have a good wide wobble and you can feel them thump.

Got a chance to throw these baits in the 1.5 and 2.5 sizes. I like them a lot. I did notice one thing. I was throwing one of the 1.5's and broke it off. I tied on an identical 1.5 and it ran slightly different. It was different enough to notice immediately. The difference was in the wobble. Fish ate both so didn't seem to matter. One ran more like a Big O and one ran more like an RC

VMC Vanadium.  The should be the same as the ones on the H2O baits and Lucky Crafts.  I always replace mine anyway.  I only use the Owner trebles.

Owner Stinger ST-36's. Best I've found. I'm giving the new Mustad short shank wide gaps a shot but it's going to be hard to dethrone the king.

Had the front and rear hooks open up on a 6 pounder. Had very little pressure on fish. Stingers are in place! Thanks guys.

I tried out the 1.5's at Squaw and was quite shocked that 4lbers were bending the hooks.  They seem to bend pretty easy, otherwise the bait runs very true.

When I saw KVD fish these at the TTBC, he immediately removed every hook and put one a new/better hook when he got out a new bait.  EVERY TIME.  Just saying.....

Just use your finger nail to get the old hook started, then slip the new one on and rotate the split ring until the old one falls off.Takes less time than finding my split ring pliers.

A friend of mine (now newly elected congressman from Missouri!!!!) Billy Long fished with KVD back in the early part of this century at the Rayburn BASS invitational. They were paired up and KVD was in first place using DD22's in between some grass beds. When Billy got in the boat in the morning Van Dam went through his tackle box and while they were waiting for takeoff he replaced every one of his hooks on his deep divers with Mustad Triple Grips.

There was another funny story that day but I won't repeat it. Something about what happens when the camera boat follows you around all day after eating 3 pounds of crawfish the night before.......

So now that they have a silent version of the square bill and the 6X does anyone know if they have plans to roll out a mid-depth diver in a silent version similar to the Rick Clunn series, but at the Strike King price?

Caught a couple at Squaw Creek on the KVD 1.5 in the blueback herring color this past Sunday. I really like the way the bait tracks and runs. Has a good "feel" to it and seems to be holding up just fine.

After using one to test the coating on a new Power Pole Signature Series I found a small design issue withthe line tie on the new square bill. Mainly, there's not much to it. It's just that S bend clip with a split ring on one end and the other set into the plastic. I'd feel much better if it had a body-thru wire harness.

are there any that have thru-wire? I thought that was only in saltwater applications.

I know most balsa baits have through wire due to the softness of the wood...

I finally checked them out and used them.  The bills are about the same size and angle as the LC's so they seem to run about the same depth.  Sure wish H2O would do a no rattle in the CRM.  It goes deeper and comes through wood better.

Strike King Cranks are crap. I live in the THE GREAT LAKES, we are the best fishermen in the world living on the best fishing lakes in the world just one lake over from KVD. And KVD does not use the cheap crap that strike king puts on the shelf for jokers like you texans to use. Ah ha ha ha ha my grampa whittled his own balsa wood cranks when KVD was a warm feeling in his daddy's loins.

I am a texan but that dont mean i back KVD. I dont understand why they take a standard crankbait, spinnerbait or anything, make it a signature series and slap another $2 on the price tag. That goes for all signature series baits. As far as the square bill's are concerned they work pretty good for me, yet all i throw is bomber cranks. I live on Lake Whitney and the square bills do a good number on schooling smallmouth.
