I used one this weekend for the first time. It ran straight out of the box with no tuning and seemed to run around  18 ft  with 15lb mono. I was not a fan of the regular series 5 and 6 cranks in the past.

Is this a fluke or did SK improve their quality control?

I dont think its a fluke.  I've gone through a few dozen of these and they have all ran well.

I have 4-5 in the boat I keep forgetting to try. Everyone has raved about them though. I'm looking forward to trying 'em.

Tim I think something definitely changed.  I've got a few and two of them will tick bottom in 22 feet on a man-sized cast with 10 lb test Sufix Deep Crankin' Line

Yes it is Jimmie.  I got lucky and get to rep their stuff.  I love it!  For cranking it is absolutely incredible.  You get the depth of flourocarbon but the castability of mono.

How is the strength? A big fish on 10 lb line would scare me.

Strength is great!

I promise you would stop using flouro for cranks after using Sufix Deep Crankin' line.  The castablility is the biggest plus.  Performance wise, you can't tell the difference.

I used to cringe about using 10 for deep cranks but I'm a believer now.  First of all, you get more depth out of your cranks.  But I believe the biggest factor, you get a lot better action out of the crankbait!  Granted, I'm not going to Falcon spooled up with 10 lb test and a big crankbait but at most "normal" lakes it doesn't bother me.

Give it a try.  I feel confident you will like it.

Its all I use for my cranks.  Itll pull up a log and cast a mile.  Not to mention, its 10 bucks for 300 yards.

I really think it is THAT good.  Didn't mean to hijack the post about the SK-6.

Right there with you Greg.  Ive got spools and spools lying around.  Ill use 17 - 20lb for flipping.  The stretch allows for some of the impact to be absorbed.

Right.. 6xd.  Cant wait for the silent version to come out.

The silent 6 is on shelves now.

My partner in BLT only uses that Deep Cranking line!  He uses it for everything!  I use it on my spinning rods and it is GREAT for that application too!

Give the Sufix a try.  I'll tell you what.  I'll get you a spool to try.

Back to the Series 6XD's. . . I've pretty much thrown all of my DD-22's away!  Cant stand normans anymore!  Only deep stuff i have in my boxs are SK Series Cranks!

Someone mentioned that the seris 5 and 6 are bad!  I totally disagree!  I have all from series 4S to series3-6 and tons of the XD!  Awesome cranks!

Suffix DC 12lb-  I wasn't a big fan!  a lot of streatch still and I lost a lot of sensativity compared to the 10 and 12lb XPS i typically use!

Just my .02 guys!

I like the 6xd cranks but they won't replace my DD22s. Rapala is making a great crank in the DT16 and DT20 as well.

I haven't tried the Suffix line so no opinion there. Still using Big Game 10 and 12lb.

I'm a little partial myself.....lol.  (Try the DT3 when the fish move up shallow.)

Thomas, the silent ones have been at BPS for a while.  This line sure does peak my interest.  Gonna have to try it out.  JR I really like the DT's as well but I wish they were tougher.

I hear you Eric on the DTs. Where I like them is it seems they will wiggle through bushes better than some other. They shine in flooded salt cedars as compared to other round bill baits.

What size and type line are you throwing them on through the salt cedars? Sounds like a killer presentation.

I throw it on 15lb big game. Not trying to get max depth. Im sure braid would work fine also with the right rod.

I got to use the 6XD for first time today on Ray Roberts and I am more than impressed. These will definitely have a place in my box. Are the 5XD just as good?

I use the 12LB Suffix Line, I got a 6XD hung up today in some thick stuff on Ray Roberts, believe it or not I ended up breaking the BRANCH off the tree in 18ft of water and pulled it to the top. This line is super tough and there were no abrasions of nicks on my line. I caught 5 more fish today without retieing and ended up with around 18lbs before the storms blew in.

no one mentioned that the 5 or 6xd seems to me to telegraph better than anything i have thrown.  i can feel the structure better with this bait than anything.  i used the dd22 and the switchback all the time and thought the switchback telegraphed the structure better than the dd22 but liked both.  now i stock only the switchback and the 5 or 6xd.  either will impress at depths to 18ft.
after the read i am going to have to try the suffix too.

I have started using the Suffix DC line on my other reels as well, not just cranking.
