Just something I noticed this weekend:

Took my wife to Texoma Good Friday and I had tied on a new KVD square bill on her rod and I was fishing a LC RC 2.5.  She was not getting bit and I was pretty steadily catching fish.  I would even hold off my casting and letting her cast into likely spots multiple casts before I would cast.  A couple of times I caught a fish in a spot after she had already cast there 2 or 3 times -- she was not happy about that... Smiley

I had some time to observe the action of the KVD SB and the most prominant thing I noticed was that the bait did not dive out of sight immediately.  It took significantly longer to get down into the strike zone than the RC.  I tied on the a RC 2.5 for her and the crank would be out of sight within a few turns of the reel.

Unfortunately the lure change did not make a difference in her fish catching ability but she never bass fishes and this was the first time she had ever thrown a crank bait so it is no surprise.  The bad thing for me is that her casting control SUCKS and that poor RC 2.5 was cast up into the rocks no less than 30 times... Sad

The old RCs are hard to beat, other than price.  But here is what I have noticed.

The KVD 1.5 (smaller size) is bad to the bone.  No need for me to buy the more expensive baits now.  The Lucky Strike small bait swims great also and is a perfect backup.  The Excalibur small one swims well also.

I have not found a good alternative to the 2.5 yet.  The larger Strike King does not swim well like the small one does.  The larger Excalibur does not swim as well either.

Just my observations.

Academy usually has them.  Or you can wait 3 days and Thomas will have his for sale.

I went to 2 Academys today and they had plenty of the KVD cranks.  Chart/Black and several others were stocked to the end of the rack!

I went to those 2 after I left BPS. BPS had them and the Xcalibur so I stocked up on both at BPS.
