I found a little place that had a ton of older Storm stuff. I was in a rush and didn't know what to look for in the wiggle warts until I'd left an ended up grabbing new baits but I found an old cotton cordell bait called the Wiggle O that is almost identical to the wart. Does anyone have any experience with the Wiggle O?

Same action as the later Storm Wiggle Warts and the Rapala era-Storm Wiggle Warts. Wide wobble and tracks good.  Doesn't "hunt" like the early Wiggle Warts but you shouldn't have to tune them either.

The mystery about the old Wiggle Warts was its wobble.  Those baits would really "hunt".  It was necessary to tune those baits out of the box.  Some baits would tune okay, some wouldn't stay tuned and there were some that could never be tuned and were trash.  That was just the nature of cranbaits baits at that time.  Storm, prior to Rapala, had balanced the Wiggle Wart and made it a more user friendly bait.  Unfortunately, it changed the action of the bait and the bait lost the ability to really "hunt".  Basically, it tracked truer than the the older models.   Rapala does produce the Original Wiggle Wart but due to todays production techniques and closer tolerances, its not the same bait.

Gotcha. I thought I may have found a hidden gem.  I figured out a little trick to make Bomber 5As run straight but kick out to the sides every once in a while that I might try and see if it works on these as well.  Thanks.
