So I've started making my own jigs because I like little projects like this. The skirt material, bands and other supplies are pretty cheap but painted jig heads cost almost as much as fully finished jigs. Anyone know where I can find an assortment of head styles with good hooks for a decent price? $6 for a 4 pack isn't exactly a world of savings.

Jay,

I've got a few thousand jig heads in my garage you can have if you'll come and haul them off. Call me during the week at 817-320-7319. The easiest way I can describe them is they look like the old strikeking bootlegger jigs. These are in a variety of weights and are already painted in a variety of colors. They're sorted and in containers. You can have the whole lot of them.

So here are some of my first jigs. I quickly realized I didn't order nearly enough base colors like black and green pumpkin and I also found out that bright colors stand out like crazy on a dark jig. Also, 80 strand is the only way to go with skirts if you decide to build your own. Seriously, one more pad makes a huge difference in the bulk and movement of the skirt.

Those look good!

Is anyone pouring their own jig heads? do you think it is cost effective over the long run to pour your own? i like doing it because its fun (and toxic), but not sure if its worth it...

although i can make jigs much less than the $4-$5 ones that i like.

I am looking to buy some more molds if anyone has any for sale!

The kicker would be to have a Hair/Rubber skirt...look at the action on the hair..

http://jensenjigs.com/

this guy ties my hair jigs and I like the action in the hair when its just sitting there..And on the Bed..FORGETABOUTIT!!

I just wish he had a better standing head

I just recently found a shop in Richardson, Tx called Barlow's Tackle Shop, they also have an online store at barlowstackle.com they offer molds for any type or weight of jig you wish to have along with weed guards, skirts and rattles...they offer honestly everything to make your own baits from hardbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs and even worms. Most of their prices are extremely good, they also offer some of the best looking creature baits i have ever seen.
