Title : Fish Care Classes starting to catch on around the state of Texas
Our fish care team has been travelling all over the state of Texas teaching bass tournament fish care procedures. Our classes entail different subjects, all related to a day on the water where fish are held in captivity in a livewell for weigh-in purposes. These include pre-tournament preparation, livewell procedure and care, livewell additives and their purposes, equipment available for livewells (oxygen, etc.) . We also do weigh-in procedure for both the angler and tournament director, and of’course the fizzing procedure for bass that suffer from the condition called BaroTrauma. Only cost for the class is a hotel room for the staff (2 people) and a pass the hat for gas expenses to travel to the class site. Also local information on the best place to eat ! As Texas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Fish Care Coordinator, this is one of my passions. Teaching folks how to correctly take care of fish and not have their picture taken of dead fish floating everywhere by news media . That gives us all a black eye and bad reputation in the angling world and public eye. Plus , we are conserving our precious resource not only here at the big blue, but lakes around the great state of Texas, that in my opinion, is the best in the world for bass fishing purposes.
So far we have travelled to the Mexia Bass Club, Tarrant County Bass Club, Concho Valley Bass Club/San Angelo Federation Club and our next stop will be the Denton County Bass Club in February. That is our schedule so far. I also do speeches for tournament organizations that hold their events here at the big blue. Have done them for the C.A.S.T. Couples Tournament, B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship, and many others. I also do posting on the internet. You will find fish care sections on several different sites, most notably
http://www.lonestarbass.com and
http://www.lonestarfishing.com . I also just did an internet chat room talk last night on
http://www.thebassholes.com that lasted 4 hours on fish care ! So if your group or club would like to have a class, please contact us and we will be happy to do a class for you. It lasts around 2 to 2 ½ hours depending on the question and answer part length at the end. You can contact me at the lodge , (830)775-1586 or my cell (830)719-9907 and I will contact you asap if I am not there and my employees take your message. And thank you for your conservation mindset in wanting to have this class. It never hurts to have extra knowledge.
