Fishing on Ivie has been up and down the last few weeks. Hero one day and struggle the next. There is a pretty solid thermocline in the 25 ft range and most fish I am catching are above that.

BE CAREFUL right now on Ivie. The water is low enough there are quite a few stumps shallow enough to run over. Stay in the channel and dont cut across everywhere.

Early grass fishing is producing a few fish most days on topwater frogs and buzzbaits. If you get some wind action run a swimbait around the peppergrass and hydrilla (or even a spinnerbait). The topwater bite has been good one day and zero the next but well worth a try.

Later in the day I have mainly been fishing football jigs, tx rig Xcite craws, crig 10" worms, spoons or big spinners around chunkrock drops or piles in 15-25ft. If they have some stumps/wood even better. They are pretty easy to find with a SI unit. If you are getting perch bites on plastics you are in the right area. The fish are either there or will be there behind them shortly. Most of our big fish lately have been on the jig and crig.

I am still catching some suspended fish on spoons in 20-25ft suspended above the thermocline out off of points and channel breaks. I have been using a 3.5" 1oz spoon that I make myself. Most of these fish are in the 1.5-3 lb range.

If you are just looking for bites and not size find some rock points and fish a shakey head worm or drop shot. Also around the grass you can fish a weigtless fluke or senko.

I am still seeing a lot of white bass at the mouth of Elm Creek schooling and on the graph. Looks like the way most of them are set up you are going to have to troll to catch them. They are moving around pretty quick and not staying up but maybe 15-20 seconds at a time.

We have been basically fishing dead of summer stuff with 10-15 fish being a good day. We will see what the lake holds in store with the cold fronts we have had.

I am spending the weekend as BBQ chef for the family and need to catch up on making some baits. Will be back on the water next week.

If you have any questions on Ivie feel free to PM me or call and I will help as much as I can.

That lake kills me. Spent three days there and put one fish in the boat. That lake has my number for sure.

LOL.  Just to note - it does not seem to work in Safari.  Microsoft likes to think they own this planet.
