Thomas joined me at Falcon for the week along with Greg Yates.  Fishing, overall, was tougher than normal, but we caught some good ones.  But the highlight, no doubt, was Thomas' first largemouth he caught totally on his own.  He picked the spinnerbait, and was casting away when he hooked up.  Here is a video.

That was definitely the highlight of the trip!  That's a memory that will last forever and I'm grateful I was able to capture the excitement on camera.

I actually took one of my old trophies with me to give to him.  I gave it to him that evening and boy he was proud of that trophy too.

Yates was awesome the whole week helping me out with Thomas.  And capturing this on video - will be treasured for a lifetime!

That boy was pumped about catching that fish. I saw them on the water two days after he caught it and he jumped up from the floor of the boat to tell us all about it. As soon as he learns to use a net I'm sure weber will be looking for a new partner. Great job Thomas.

Very cool... Its been fun watching him get bigger since the days of casting a hookless bobber on a snoopy pole. You won't forget your kids first.

The first 6 pounder Braxton caught at OH Ivie when he was 10 to win Angler of the year and big bass in our Fun-n-Sun Adult youth Championship sticks in my mind.
His first buck at Hancocks at 7 years old sitting in my lap. I put my hand on his heart right before he pulled the trigger and it felt like a sledgehammer pounding in there!
His 8.10 he caught in a Whitney tournament on 10 pound test and a square bill at 11 years to win it all. Wow..... your video brings back the best memories.

He and I are going bear hunting in June to Idaho and can't wait to video his first bear
kill.
No, I wouldn't trade 5 SAL's a year for any one of my kids first fish, deer, bear, etc...

Great Job Thomas! (And John Deere's still rule!) Wink

That is awesome Mike!!  He sure was excited... looks like he's hooked for sure!  I wish I had a video a few years ago when I took my daughter to the pond to try and teach her to throw a baitcaster.  She was a pro at it in no time and caught a 4#'er after a few casts.  I didn't even have my phone to take pics.  That's a great moment to catch on video!

Thanks.  It will definitely be a memory I cherish!

You should have seen him in school today telling all the kids and teachers about it.  Pretty funny!
