I went ahead and paid for the Advance Cast for all the events early online.  $17 bucks.  Pay Per View for fishing?  Who would have ever thought?

I was reading about the pay per view deal yesterday.  At first I was little aggrevated by the charge.   Just seemed unaligned with the MLF goal of getting you close to the angler.  It's a great business idea, but not sure I am bought in to yet.  On the other hand, I guess its no different than paying for a package on Dish or whoever.....I am sure I will find a way to test a few episodes for value.  Smiley

The PPV is clearly just for the junkies because it will air on Outdoor Channel for free at a later date.  The PPV is early viewing and more coverage than the TV show will offer.  Not sure they're going to make a fortune with the PPV but think about it if 10,000 people pay for it early.  You do the math.

Sure makes it really easy to pay for the TV production for each event and then the put the sponsorship money into the partnership and make 24 anglers really happy.  Weird business model to me but hey I'm used to losing money so what do I know?  Roll Eyes

I'm considering it as well. Sounds like they may show a few things that the "sponcers" don't want on the Outdoor Channel.

Enjoyed watching the show.  Don't know that it's a game changer and there's definitely some things I could do without but it was solid.

Could do without Lurch and the refs look like rodeo clowns.  Bring on the next show.

I'm not a Lurch fan, or the random middle aged lady that knows nothing about fishing.  I also didn't like how they assigned the fisherman "numbers" and put them on their jersey.

Everything else I really enjoyed.

Yep, numbers not needed.  However, if that's your idea of a "random middle aged lady" then I want to party with you...

I joined for $17 and it is awesome. Tons of actual fishing coverage and it was like 115 minutes of fishing. Great concept and coverage.

I really like the format and the amount of actual fishing they show.  In my opinion I do think this will change professional fishing but I don't ever see it working at local or regional levels because of the lack of money available to support it.  I don't think BASS, FLW, or PAA would ever try to imitate it primarily because it's owned by the fisherman but I think it will be recongnized as one of the top professional trails with as much credibility as the others.  I'm signed up for the whole thing and look forward to each episode.  Also, I actually thought the "random middle aged woman" did a pretty good job.  If she doesn't know anything about the sport I think she does a good job of pretending like she does and not to mention she's damn good looking.

The Ike scenes on the second episode were unbelievable.  That guy is such a dork and a complete spazz.  They used shorter boats and he fell in his observers lap numerous times.

I'm sure he's a great guy and all but I'm not a fan of that kind of behavior in any sport.

I dont mind a little cussing... but he was just ridiculous and ignorant sounding.  Im not sure what marketing angle you can spin on that.

He obviously knows how to fish, but Im definitely not a big fan.

I am not a fan Greg but I must say that surprises me.  I have met Mike and watched Mike interact with young & old alike, and he always has come across well in that setting.   If you like the writings of Don Barone (db), you should check out his latest post on Mike, I believe it was dated 2/20/12.  That story I truly do believe is more represenative of his character, I just simply do not care for what I believe to be his "Marketing Character".                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Simply my 2 cents worth, this too you may dislike ?

I can't read Barone. He gives me a migraine.  Lol.

Red, I agree with you completely.  I think Ike has a "camera" personality and an "off-air" personality.  At the Kyle Bush event on Lewisville he was not overly personable for lack of better terms.  Granted, Swindle and Scroggins were extremely out going and made themselves very accessible to everyone there and that made Ike look pretty quiet.  Ike is a marketing machine, no question about that. It works for him and that's all that matters.

Plus I can't stand anyone that runs and trips around the boat screaming "GIANT" for a 2 lber.  Lol.

He is completley different in person that he portrays on tv, which alone, kind of bugs me.  However, cut him some slack on the Lewisville deal, he caught one bass and it was just a couple of days after Kieth Combs smacked him in the face by beating him in a fish-off.  Ike also lost a great rod and reel combo, so he could still be mad about that.

Watched part three tonight. The one thing I have a problem with is that there are 8 boats out there and everyone should have a camera man on his boat. If someone is making a move, we should be able to see what they are doing. Kriet was classic tonight. Asking his official if he had a defibrillator on the boat and saying he was going to stroke out if he lost a big fish. Quote of the night was him saying he was going to "mess his drawers". Another great episode!
