I don't think they will find it. I don't understand why they can't take the serial number and check it with a database to see where it was last registered. Surely they have the serial number records. Neat story that they are trying to find it but that boat is probably buried in an old barn somewhere or in someone's backyard with the trailer tires grown into the ground.

odds are probably better that it is on the bottom of the lake than if it isn't... 40 years old for a boat, bet it has exchanged many hands.

Prior to 1973 most states didn't require hull numbers. Maybe it has a big number 1 on it.
