I have not broke any rods in atleast 12 years and then in the last 2 trips I have broke 2. One on each trip. One on a hookset this was an allstar I have used on my slugos for atleast 10 years maybe longer. Caught the fish by the way it was about 11 inch long spot.  Then I broke a Falcon while casting a 1/2 ounce spinner bait whats bad I had just casted it nine or ten times in a row and then pop very clean break almost looks like someone took a razor and cut around it. This rod has been to war so complaints it has caught a tremendous amount of fish.  I always save my rods for eyes to put on other rods.  Do you guys have any other uses for broke rods.

Cut one off just above first eye and make a crankbait knocker out of it.

Hey Tim,  If it's cork handled you could do a little carving and or alteration for the "phallic" shape and pass along to Gandy.  When he hit a dry spell he wasn't to picky and that cost him.

He's on meds. and over the worse, but may need a "stand-in" !!

Just looking out for you Brother Gandy,  I'll help whereever I can.

+1 on the kids! I would rather go to jail for beating them, than them go to jail for not beating them

Glue a magnet on the end and you have a handy go get it when things fall into cracks . Plug Knocker. And if you saw the rod off at the handle the longer one's make one hell of a billy club. Cut a slit in the end of the handle, drill a hole and attach a saw. Make a great tree trimmer. And yes, it does work. ! The rod section makes a handy wind chime holder using what's left of the eyes. Also makes a handy dipstick for checking lawnmower oil if your's breaks off and you only have the cap left. All kinds of stuff ! And the best one I like is it makes an outstanding toilet paper roll holder for your bathroom. Glue it to a 1X8 and whalla !

I've got an old one laying around that's cut off at the first eye. Sometimes if I'm going on a road trip I'll take it and use it to respool line in the truck. I just swap reels on it and keep the line directly below me in a shoebox on the floorboard. Guess it needs sayin' that I'm in the passenger seat while doing this.  Grin

Tim--I had the same thing happen about a month ago.  10 year old All Star rod that I loved broke on a 10'' fish, painful.  Before that I hadn't broken a rod in 10+ years.  The rod broke right at the mid point.  I called All Star because they don't make these rods anymore and was looking to see if they could point me in a direction to buy a new one.  I had no intention of submitting it as a warranty claim because I felt like that rod had done everything I expected it to do.  They brought the idea up and all I had to do was pay for shipping, $20, I believe.  They didn't replace it with the same rod, but one of their lower end models, the Team All Star Series.  Not a great rod, but not bad for a spare if/when another one breaks.

Got enough the last three years to outfit an army with billy clubs. I don't carry those anymore. And before then, that monster hook set of mine broke quite a few  Shocked Cool Wink HeHeHe Made the Berkley Lightning Rod rep blush once. He said I couldn't break it. LMAO Wrong ! Dropped a 1 oz. t/rig through the hydrilla, got the old "yeehah" on the other end, let him have it and snapped it in four places, right there in front of him. LOL Got the fish too. All of 3 lbs. LMAO

Everything that get broken gets a tip put on it and is from that point moving on called a catfish rod. Maybe Cline would be interested in a couple of my customs at a great price.
